Dr. Chuanlun Zhang, the "National Thousand Talents" Professor from Tongji University was invited to attend the advanced forum of QIBEBT on May 25th2015, and made a lecture entitled "Archaea biogeochemical outlook: from the life evolution to the global carbon and nitrogen cycle (eg. in the South China Sea)".
Prof. Zhang introduced the important role of archaea in life evolution and marine biogeochemical cycles, as well as their recent research progresses on Marine Group II archaea in the biogeochemical cycles in the South China Sea. Moreover, Prof. Zhang shared his own experiences moving from geology to archaea , and prospected for future studies on marine archaea, then Prof. Zhang discussed with the young scientists and students and answered their questions. This forum was hosted by Dr.Yongyu Zhang, group leader of the marine carbon sequestration.
After that, Prof. Chuanlun Zhang and the faculties in the research center of marine biology and carbon sequestration discussed the future research collaboration on marine carbon sequestration in coastal sediments.
