Prof. Richard B. Rivkin from Memorial University of Canada visited QIBEBT from 5thto 11thJun., 2015. During his visit, Prof. Rivkin was invited to attend the “QIBEBT International Expert Forum”, and gave a presentation titled “Patterns of microzooplankton grazing in contrasting biogeochemical provinces of the temperate and sub-tropical Atlantic Ocean”, which mainly introduced the effects of microzooplankton on predation of different-size picoplankton, carbon cycle and energy flow in marine ecosystem. Moreover, he made an overview introduction of the marine department of Memorial University. The forum was chaired by Prof. Jian Xu, director general of the division bioenergy institute of QIBEBT.
The visit of Prof. Rivkin laid good foundations for cooperation between QIBEBT and Memorial University. Both sides reached a consensus in the future research collaboration on marine carbon sequestration and single cell analysis.
